Floating Hillock Peak
Introduction: Floating Hillock Peak is one of the 36 major peaks, with an elevation of 1,683 meters. Legend has it that the Yellow Emperor, the ancestor of the Chinese nation, along with his left and right ministers Rongchengzi and Fuxiu Gong, traveled from afar to Mount Yi (Huangshan) to gather stones for alchemy, which took 480 years. Eventually, they attained enlightenment and ascended to heaven. It is said that Floating Hillock Peak was where Fuxiu Gong used to roam, hence its name. It also has the alias “Sedan Chair Peak” and is commonly known as “Ruo Mao Jian” (Straw Hat Peak). However, it is a different peak from another “Sedan Chair Peak” located along the Songgu Trail. At the summit of Floating Hillock Peak lies the Floating Hillock Fairy Terrace. A bit further down is the Floating Hillock Temple, and even lower is the Floating Hillock Taoist Monastery (demolished during the Zhonghe era of the Tang Dynasty). Below the peak is the Floating Hillock Spring (also known as Wuyun Spring), and the stream flowing out of it is called the “Floating Hillock Stream” (also known as “Floating Stream”), which flows south for about thirty to fifty li before joining the Cao Gong Stream.
