Limajian Giant Cliff

Introduction The Limajian Giant Cliff is located along the hiking route, about five li ahead at Limajiao Bridge after departing from Cihuangge. From the bridgehead, look toward the opposite Limajian Peak, and you will see a huge cliff hanging down precipitously from the face of the cliff — this is the Limajian Giant Cliff. The Limajian Giant Cliff is described as having “sheer sides dropping vertically, with nothing but the abyss below,” yet on this giant cliff are engraved ten large characters: “Stand Your Ground, Emptying the Eastern Sea; Climb High, Gazing at Peace.” These are hailed as the finest cliff inscriptions on the entire mountain. Carved by stonemasons who risked their lives back then, these characters have now become a “monument” that celebrates the diligence, courage, and wisdom of the working people.
