When dark clouds descend and shroud the surrounding mountains, this peak alone frequently floats above the cloud edge, hence the name "Yunji Peak" (Cloud Edge Peak). There is a Cangyun Cave on the peak. From a distance, the cave entrance is often hidden within the mist. A poem from the Ming Dynasty by an anonymous author reads: “A wisp of cloud atop the peak, emerging from Cangyun Cave; all the world looks for sweet rain, but do not enter the dream of King Xiang.” The clouds at the peak may originate from Cangyun Cave, a natural phenomenon caused by a special upward airflow within the cave.
