Monkey Gazing at the Sea

On a flat-topped peak to the north of Lion Peak, there is an oddly shaped rock resembling a monkey sitting in silence while watching the sea of clouds roll by. Known as "Monkey Gazing at the Sea," this formation is located in the North Sea Scenic Area of Huangshan’s Lion Peak. A lone stone monkey perches atop the peak, appearing either to gaze into the distance or crouch ready to leap as it observes the undulating sea of clouds. When the clouds disperse, the monkey can also overlook the pastoral scenery of Taiping County, hence this peculiar rock is also called "Monkey Gazing at Taiping."
