Five Dragons Pool in Huangshan

Five Dragons Pool in Huangshan is located in the Songgu Stream not far from Furong Pool. The so-called “Five Dragons Pool” refers to five massive rocks that resemble giant dragons, with their heads dipping into the pool and tails stretching along the streambanks, appearing as if the five dragons are drinking from the water—hence the name “Five Dragons Pool.” The great Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake described it in his travelogue: “Azure Dragon Pool, a deep expanse of azure blue, also converges two streams, and compared to White Dragon Pool, it is both more majestic, with large rocks scattered wildly, water cascading turbulently, and surrounded by peaks both near and far—an equally splendid sight.”
