Huangshan Shimen Water Conservancy Scenic Area

Huangshan Shimen Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Huangshan Shimen Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in the eastern part of Huangshan Scenic Area in Anhui Province, just 3.5 kilometers from the southern entrance of Huangshan. It is built around the Shimen Reservoir.

The scenic area is a reservoir-type water conservancy park, featuring the water conservancy project, Shimen Gorge, and cascading waterfalls as its main attractions. It integrates the culture of the Yellow Emperor and revolutionary red culture, and combines multiple functions such as ecological tourism, sightseeing experiences, leisure vacations, and scientific research education. It is hailed as a shining pearl at the foot of Huangshan. The area enjoys superior natural ecological conditions with abundant rainfall, clear waters, and numerous streams, waterfalls, and springs. The vegetation is lush, and there is a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The scenic area also boasts profound cultural heritage and abundant human landscapes, including former centralized resettlement sites for Shanghai-educated youths, as well as battle relics and monuments left by the Red Army during their northward march to resist Japan. Moreover, it features strong Huizhou-style culture and folk customs. In recent years, through the active development by the Huangshan Scenic Area Management Committee and Huangshan Tourism Group Company, the Shimen Water Conservancy Scenic Area has become an important node and support in the strategic transformation of Huangshan tourism—from being primarily sightseeing-focused to offering comprehensive tourism services including "sightseeing, leisure, vacation, and wellness."
