Located in Ma'anshan City. Yushan Lake is delicate and charming, surrounded by nine peaks scattered at varying distances along its shores, earning it the reputation of "nine peaks encircling one lake." The scenery is picturesque and enchanting. Roads, trees, and buildings line the entire lake. The area along Hubei Road and near Hongqi Bridge by the lake serves as an extension of the park where visitors can admire the lake and mountain views; Huxi Road features the Fuyuan Trade Market, built in the Ming and Qing architectural style along the lake, and nearly 20,000 square meters of green recreational space. Hunan Road boasts willow-lined banks and flower-dotted embankments, with a small recreation area of nearly 10,000 square meters where the water and sky blend into one — an ideal spot for leisure and relaxation.

In recent years, the newly developed Nanhu and Beihu street parks have dredged and expanded the Yushan Lake water system. This has not only improved the city’s flood control capacity but also added a natural touch to the urban environment, making it a perfect place for holiday leisure.

The main features of the landscapes in Yushan Lake and the Nanhu and Beihu parks are lush green lawns adorned with various trees and shrubs. Small bridges, corridors, and pavilions of diverse designs guide visitors to enjoy lotus flowers on the water or admire the scenery from across the shore.

A man-made island in the middle of the lake has become a seasonal habitat for migratory birds such as wild geese, egrets, and mandarin ducks.

Four bustling urban streets encircle the lake. The camphor trees, ginkgoes, winter jasmine, and plane trees planted along the roads not only enhance the beauty of Yushan Lake but also serve as the city’s green lungs. Throughout the seasons, the area offers snowy camphor leaves and red foliage in winter, golden winter jasmine blooms in early spring, cheerful green ginkgo leaves in summer, and the shady canopies of plane trees providing cool relief under the blazing sun.

Yushan Lake, formerly known as Wa'er Pond and also called Wawa Pond, covers a water area of 1,987 mu. To the east of the lake lies Jiashan Mountain, and to the west is Yushan Mountain, facing each other with the lake and mountains forming a harmonious whole. Weeping willows and clusters of high-rise buildings surround the lake, making it a scenic area in the city center. In 1959, it was turned into a park, named after the lake.

Yushan Lake Park is divided into five scenic areas: North Garden, South Garden, West Garden, the Zoo, and the Lake Center Island. The North Garden is well-developed, featuring lush flowers and trees, and winding paths leading to serene spots. Along the lakeshore, there are elegant pavilions, arched bridges over the water, willow-lined stone paths, and rugged rockeries. Fish harbors, lotus ponds, bamboo groves, corridors, and wooden pavilions are scattered throughout, arranged with balanced density. The “Fragrant Garden” within this area is a world of blooming flowers, vibrant and fragrant, offering breathtaking beauty. The “Three Shadows Tower,” built near the water, is a place for visitors to enjoy tea and rest. From its upper floors, visitors can gaze at the rippling blue waters, dotted boats, and the reflections of green mountains, trees, and red buildings in the lake, creating a fairyland-like scene. The South Garden is characterized by its tranquility, elegance, and serenity. Landscape features such as the Twin Rainbow Bridge, the Unstained Pavilion, the Never-Tired Pavilion, and the Leisurely Pavilion are either nestled by the clear waters or nestled among exotic flowers and plants, each displaying its unique charm. The large characters “Yushan Lake” above the south gate are particularly eye-catching.
