Aside from hydrangea attractions loved by many visitors on Yangmingshan, the Hutan Community in Zhushanhu area has launched the “Yangmingshan Zhushanhu International Environmental Art and Reed Revival Project,” inviting international artists from Japan, Hungary, the United States, and other countries to collaborate with Taiwanese artists. Using the local material “reed,” they have created installation artworks that form natural land art, making it the latest hotspot for photos.

“Reed” was once one of Taiwan’s important cash crops and also one of the first Taiwanese plants collected by international botanists. It can be used to make lifelike handmade imitation flowers such as peonies, roses, and cherry blossoms from reed paper. This year, to promote environmental conservation, special reed interpretation and experience activities have been organized for both domestic and international artists.

The two large natural land art pieces created in this project — “The Spiral at the Edge of Nature” and “Flower Mountain in the Water” — were made possible through the joint efforts of the local Hutanli community residents and the artists, who gathered natural materials from the area. These are expected to become another popular photo spot in the Yangmingshan area.
