The Putan Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery in Ma'anshan City is situated on Wanggong Mountain in the Putan Tourist Resort in the eastern suburbs of Ma'anshan, spanning approximately 100 acres. It was first built in 1976, and a memorial tower was erected to honor 39 unnamed martyrs who died during the Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign. Between 1994 and 1998, the cemetery was expanded to include a martyrs’ section, a Red Army martyrs’ section, the reconstruction of the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, the enlargement of the memorial square, the construction of a Revolutionary History Memorial Hall, and the Liu Yihong Memorial Pavilion, among other facilities. The newly built Revolutionary History Memorial Hall has a floor area of about 820 square meters and mainly displays the revolutionary struggle history of the Ma'anshan area and the heroic deeds of revolutionary martyrs. The exhibits inside include a list of revolutionary martyrs, relics, photos, an overview of the revolutionary struggle history, and introductions to major historical events. Among these, the list of revolutionary martyrs includes 120 martyrs from the Liberation War period and 120 from the Anti-Japanese War period who sacrificed in the Ma'anshan region, plus 282 martyrs who died after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, totaling 522 individuals. Since the nationwide survey and relocation project of scattered martyrs’ graves began in 2011, the cemetery has further expanded the martyrs’ section by nearly 1,000 square meters, built 18 new martyr graves, and relocated six scattered martyrs’ graves into the cemetery for reburial. Currently, the site contains 32 martyrs’ graves, 18 Red Army graves, two monuments, two memorial pavilions, and one memorial hall.
