Ma'anshan Meteorological Bureau Science and Technology Museum

The Ma'anshan Meteorological Bureau Science and Technology Museum serves as a science education base.

In 2003, it was awarded the title of "Ma'anshan Science Popularization Education Base" by the Ma'anshan Association for Science and Technology; in 2006, it was named a "Anhui Province Science Popularization Education Base" by the Anhui Provincial Association for Science and Technology; in 2010, it was designated as a "National Science Popularization Education Base" by the China Association for Science and Technology. In 2015, it was once again named a "National Science Popularization Education Base." From 2014 to 2015, over seventy cooperative agreements on science popularization were signed with county and district associations for science and technology, schools, and communities; on average, twelve lectures per year were conducted on lightning protection safety, meteorological science knowledge, and disaster prevention and mitigation awareness, and more than 10,000 free science popularization publications and materials were distributed. The animated short educational film "Thunderstorm Weather," produced by the city's meteorological bureau, has been screened in over a hundred classes across multiple schools and in communities, reaching an audience of more than 20,000. Activities to bring meteorological science to rural areas have also been carried out. Depending on the season, scientific and technical personnel are organized to visit township enterprises and agricultural production bases to provide services including summer wheat harvesting, drainage during floods, autumn harvest and planting, forest fire prevention, soil moisture conservation, and pest control. Ma'anshan Zhongcun Primary School, Dongyuan Primary School, and No. 7 Middle School have been awarded the title of "National Meteorological Science Popularization Education Base — Model Campus Weather Station" by the China Meteorological Administration and the China Meteorological Society.
