Huangjiayan Site

The Huangjiayan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Huangjiayan Site, dating back to the Neolithic Age, is located in Xinqiao Township, Wangjiang County. Covering an area of about 50,000 square meters, the site is divided into a burial area and a residential area.

In 1997, the provincial archaeological institute excavated 1,200 square meters, uncovering more than 50 tombs, all oriented from northeast to southwest. Artifacts such as pottery, stone tools, and jade objects were also unearthed. The pottery includes tripods, dou (stemmed bowls), and hu (jars); the stone tools include axes, shovels, adzes, and chisels; and the jade objects include huang (arc-shaped pendants), jue (earrings), and bracelets. In particular, the jade items are of fine quality and crystal clear. Based on the styles of the unearthed objects, including their shapes and decorative patterns, the site is dated to the late Neolithic Age, around 5,000 years ago.

Protected area: The boundary extends 200 meters southeast from the base point, 500 meters northeast to the dam of Matou River, 270 meters southwest to the southwest corner of Zhai Mountain, and 120 meters northwest (base point coordinates: N:30°01'44.2", E:116°31'36.8").

Construction control zone: A 50-meter buffer zone surrounding the protected area.
