Ying Mansion

Ying Mansion is a cultural heritage site protected by Jiangbei District.

Ying Mansion is an official residence built in the Jiayin year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1744). Originally consisting of five courtyards, most were destroyed by fire. Today, only the screen wall, gate tower, and front east hall remain. The building covers a construction area of 128 square meters. The screen wall has a traditional eight-character shape, higher in the center and lower at both ends, resting on a stone Sumeru pedestal. It features carvings of scrollwork, phoenixes, and peonies, with a total height of about 4 meters and a length of 7 meters. The brick carvings also depict twin dragons playing with a pearl, magpies and peonies, phoenixes and qilins, as well as longevity symbols. The ceiling of the east hall is painted with intertwined vine floral patterns that have remained unfaded over time.

This residence is an early Qing architectural structure from the Qianlong era. It preserves valuable physical examples of Ningbo’s brick carving art and holds significant importance for the study of local Qing-era architecture in Ningbo.
