Martyrs' Tomb of Zhu Hongshan

The Martyrs' Tomb of Zhu Hongshan is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangbei District and a classic red tourism site.

The Martyrs' Tomb of Zhu Hongshan was initially built in early 1952. The tomb is built against a hillside and faces Cihu Lake to the south, where picturesque mountains and clear waters blend harmoniously, and lush pines and cypresses provide a shady canopy.

Zhu Hongshan, the martyr, during his lifetime, served as a member of the Cixi County Committee of the Communist Party of China, director of the Yinci County Office, deputy director of the logistics department and director of the rear area office of the New Fourth Army's Eastern Zhejiang Guerrilla Column. During his long-term struggle against the enemy, he made outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause. After the New Fourth Army guerrilla column withdrew northward, Comrade Zhu Hongshan continued to lead the masses in resisting the enemy. Unfortunately, on one late night, he was surrounded by the enemy in western Yinzhou and sacrificed. Other martyrs including Gong Xian, Sheng Xingying, Zheng Xiahǔ, and Wang Ayu, who were all engaged in revolutionary work in the Cixi County area during their lifetimes, successively sacrificed before liberation. Meanwhile, martyrs Mao Shaopin, Feng Youju, and Yu Xuecheng, who were soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, heroically gave their lives in the battle to liberate Ningbo.

After the liberation, to commemorate these eight martyrs, the Cixi County People’s Government and the Cicheng Town People’s Committee constructed this tomb in 1951, 1952, and 1963 respectively.

In 1997 and 1998, following planning and renovation by the Civil Affairs Bureau of Jiangbei District, the Martyrs' Tomb of Zhu Hongshan was relocated and now also enshrines the remains of over a hundred revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed in various periods. It has since been renamed the “Cihu Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery.” The name was inscribed by Comrade Tan Qilong, and the cemetery was completed and opened to the public in the spring of 1998 for people to mourn and pay tribute. At the same time, comprehensive greening and beautification were carried out in the cemetery area, giving the Cihu Martyrs’ Cemetery a completely renewed appearance.
