Ningbo Catholic Church

The main church was originally built in the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932) with funding from the Vatican Holy See. The church faces east and sits west, standing 15 meters tall. Its front section is three bays wide (17 meters) and three bays deep (21 meters). A cross is mounted above the main gate, beneath which the words “天主堂” (Catholic Church) are inscribed, and the middle section features a plum blossom-shaped round window. It has a mixed structure of stone, wood, and reinforced concrete, with a gable roof, wooden rafters and purlins, a domed canopy ceiling, and a total of 12 windows on the left and right sides. The rear hall has a square roof, and a pair of drum stones are placed on either side of the main gate. The building covers an area of 600 square meters. It is designed in the Spanish Gothic architectural style of the 15th-century Renaissance period and was renovated in 1996. To the right of the church is a clergy residence building called Jujiao Lou. It is listed as a key cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province and is also among the sixth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.
