The former residence of Gao Shuxun is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Gao Shuxun is located at No. 141 Munan Road, Heping District. This residence is a tranquil courtyard complex, consisting of 29 buildings and bungalows in total, with a land area of 1,275 square meters and a construction area of 641 square meters. The structure is made of brick and concrete. The courtyard is verdant with plants, complementing a uniquely styled British-style small villa. The sides of the building are flat, while the central façade features protruding semi-circular glass windows. On the left side, there is a small umbrella-shaped tower, which is delicate and uniquely styled, reflecting a distinctive architectural character. The villa has exposed brick walls, wooden balconies, and dark red tiled roofs, presenting an elegant and refined charm with a unique appeal.

Gao Shuxun (1898–1972), courtesy name Jianhou, was from Yanshan, Hebei. Born into poverty, he joined Feng Yuxiang’s army at the age of 18. Known for his integrity and bravery in battle, he was promoted to division commander due to his repeated military achievements. In 1930, Gao Shuxun’s troops were incorporated into the Nationalist 26th Army. When his unit was dispatched to Jiangxi in 1931 to carry out the “encirclement” campaign against the Red Army, Gao gradually saw through the reactionary nature of the Kuomintang.
