Tianjin Central Park

　　  Introduction     Situated in the downtown area of Heping District, it is encircled by a circular garden road. Established in 1917 and completed in 1922, it was originally called French Garden. The park features a statue of the French national hero Nordeck and a bronze statue of the Goddess of Peace. After 1941, it was renamed Central Park, and in 1946, it was renamed Roosevelt Garden, with the statues being removed.

　　     In April 1949, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government funded the restoration of the park, which was then renamed Central Park. Covering an area of 1.27 hectares, the park is circular in shape and is a typical French formal-style artificial garden. At its center stands a Western-style octagonal double-pillar stone pavilion, surrounded by lawns. There is also a ring-shaped rose garden. The park mainly features plants such as dragon claw locust trees, ash trees, crabapple trees, shrubs, and roses. It has two symmetrical rockeries, a plum blossom fountain, two children’s car parks, and a comprehensive children’s playground. A Hundred Flowers Hall was built in 1988, making it a multifunctional park.
