Greenwich Park
Greenwich Park is located in the town of Greenwich, England, and is one of the Royal Parks of Britain. It was once a hunting ground for Henry VIII, covering an area of 74 hectares. It is the largest green space in southeastern London and also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Maritime Greenwich.

The enclosure and cultivation of Greenwich Park began in 1433. It originally served as a royal hunting ground and soon became a palace of the Tudor dynasty. In the 17th century, it was redesigned as a landscape garden, and opened to the public in the 18th century. This expansive park is the first royal park in Britain. With its lush greenery, the park offers excellent views of London, the Isle of Dogs, and the River Thames. Today, Greenwich Park can be divided into two sections based on elevation: the flat area near the River Thames, the Royal Naval College, and Queen’s House, and the hillside area near the Royal Observatory. Due to its history as a hunting ground, there remains a small deer enclosure deep within the park.

This world-renowned royal park also made a significant contribution to the 2012 London Olympics. The equestrian events and some of the modern pentathlon competitions of the 2012 Olympics were held on the park’s green lawns.
