Tianjin Station is located in the city center of Tianjin, at the junction of Heping, Hedong, and Hebei districts. Situated on the banks of the Haihe River in the heart of Tianjin, it is the city’s principal railway transportation hub. The station is located on Haihe East Road, Hebei District, Tianjin.

Construction of Tianjin Station began in 1886, and it commenced operations in October 1888. In 1892, a separate passenger station was established about 500 meters west of the original site, then known as Laolongtou Station. It was China’s earliest and largest railway station at the time. In 1900, the station was destroyed during the battles of the Boxer Rebellion. It was later rebuilt after the war. In 1949, it was renamed Tianjin Station. The station underwent reconstruction in 1988, being rebuilt and expanded after the demolition of the former Laolongtou Station. A further renovation and expansion project began in 2007, and the upgraded station officially opened on August 1, 2008. Tianjin Station is a key passenger hub situated at the intersection of three major railway lines — the Beijing–Shanhaiguan Line, the Tianjin–Pukou Line, and the Beijing–Kowloon Line (connecting line) — within the Tianjin railway network. It is also the largest railway passenger station in Tianjin.
