Former Residence of Ding Yingmao

The former residence of Ding Yingmao is located at No. 106 Chengdu Road, Heping District. With a construction area of 732 square meters, the front section is a single-story building that served as a clinic, while the rear section is a two-story building used as a private residence. It was designed by the renowned architect Yan Ziheng. Ding Maoying (1891–1969), female, was from Shanghai. She was the daughter of the famous Menghe-style Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner Ding Ganren in Shanghai. In the early years of the Republic of China, she came to Tianjin and studied at Yan’s Girls’ School, where she was highly regarded by Yan Xiu. With his support, she went to the United Kingdom to study medicine. After completing her studies, she returned to China and in 1923 joined the Tianjin Public Women’s Hospital (Shuige Hospital), serving as its director under the chairmanship of Yan Xiu. In 1935, she established the Tianjin Women’s Hospital on London Road (now Chengdu Road) in the British Concession and began practicing medicine independently.
