Former Residence of Jin Liang

The former residence of Jin Liang is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Jin Liang is located at No. 52 Chongqing Road, Heping District. It is a row-style Italianate building constructed in the 1920s.

Jin Liang (1870–1960), courtesy name Xihou, was a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and of Manchu ethnicity. He passed the imperial examination as a Juren in 1901 (the year of Xinchou) and as a Jinshi in 1904 (the year of Jiachen), after which he was appointed as a junior compiler. He once served as an administrative officer at the Imperial University of Peking, chief of the Inner City Police Department, and an advisor at the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Later, he held positions such as head of the Banners Office in Fengtian and prefect of Xinmin Prefecture. In 1908, he was in charge of safeguarding the antiquities of the Shenyang Imperial Palace. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, he served as director of the Land Survey Bureau of Fengtian Province, head of the Civil Affairs Department, and magistrate of Taochang Circuit. Recommended by Zhang Zuolin, he became Vice Minister of Agriculture and Commerce in the Beiyang Government.
