Former Residence of Song Feiqing

The former residence of Song Feiqing is a cultural tourism attraction.

The residence of Song Feiqing is located at No. 116 Machang Road, Heping District. Built in 1937, it covers an area of 2,018 square meters. It is a two-story Western-style building constructed with brick and wood, featuring red tiled sloping roofs, a self-contained courtyard, and an elegant environment. The structure is beautifully designed with a garden-like layout. Several steps lead up to a platform with low walls surrounding the building, and the layout is well arranged. Its classic and refined style adds unique charm to Machang Road. The building is currently used as the Ninth Kindergarten of Heping District and has been listed as an immovable cultural relic in Tianjin that has not yet been designated as a protected historical site.

When it comes to Song Feiqing, many young and middle-aged people today may not be familiar with him. However, mention the Tianjin East Asia Woolen Textile Co., Ltd. and the "Di Yang" brand of woolen yarn, and many more will recognize them. Song Feiqing (1898–1955) was from Yidu County (now Qingzhou City), Shandong Province. He attended elementary school in his hometown starting at age six, went to junior high school in Shanghai in 1912, and attended senior high school in Beiping (now Beijing) in 1914. From 1917 onward, he studied successively at Qilu University and Yenching University. In August 1920, Song Feiqing went to the United States to study business administration along with chemistry courses at Northwestern University’s School of Commerce in Chicago.
