Former Residence of Xiong Bingqi

The former residence of Xiong Bingqi is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Xiong Bingqi is located at No. 127 Munan Road, Heping District. Built in 1925, it is a two-story brick-and-wood Western-style building set within its own courtyard. The front yard has flowers, plants, and trees, along with a garage. The downstairs includes a dining room and a kitchen, featuring a rotating window that allows food prepared in the kitchen to be sent directly to the dining room. Xiong Bingqi’s study and bedroom are also located downstairs. He enjoyed calligraphy and painting and had a large double-sided writing desk. The upstairs contains bedrooms, bathrooms, and other rooms. This residence is listed as an immovable cultural relic in Tianjin that has not yet been designated as a protected historical site.

Xiong Bingqi (1885–1959), styled Runcheng, was originally from Jining, Shandong Province, but lived most of his life in Tianjin. In his youth, he enlisted in Baoding, graduated from the Artillery Department of the Tianjin Military Preparatory School and the Staff College (the predecessor of the Beijing Army University). He served as a Second-Class Staff Officer of the Beijing Imperial Guards, and made three trips to Japan to study military affairs and observe drills. He earned the trust of Feng Guozhang, who appointed him as Chief of Staff of the Zhili Governor's Office, Chief of Staff of the Jiangsu Governor's Office, President of the Beijing Army University, and Chief of Staff of Cao Kun’s Zhili-Shandong-Henan Patrol Inspectorate.
