Former Residence of Xu Shizhang

The former residence of Xu Shizhang is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Xu Shizhang is located at No. 126 Munan Road, Heping District. It is a three-story modern-style building constructed with brick and concrete, reduced to two stories after an earthquake. The building houses a study, ballroom, living room, dining room, and more. Originally, there was a garden courtyard surrounding the building, featuring rockeries, a small pavilion, and a scenic flower wall, making it an elegant high-end private residence. This residence is now used as the office building of Tianhe Hospital and is listed as an immovable cultural relic in Tianjin that has not yet been announced as a protected cultural heritage site.

Xu Shizhang (1889–1954)

A renowned cultural relics connoisseur from Tianjin and the cousin of Xu Shichang, President of the Republic of China. He studied at the University of Liège in Belgium in his early years and earned a bachelor's degree in economic management. After returning to China in 1912, he successively served as an official in the Road Administration Department of the Ministry of Communications, Deputy Director of the Beijing-Hankou Railway Administration, and Director of the Jinpu Railway Administration. Starting in 1920, he held positions such as Vice Minister of the Ministry of Communications, National Railway Director, Vice President of the Bank of Communications, Director of the China International Transport Bureau, and Director of the Currency Bureau.
