Former Residence of Zhang Boling

The former residence of Zhang Boling is a cultural tourism attraction.

The former residence of Zhang Boling is located at No. 39 Dali Road, Heping District. Situated near the serene Minyuan Stadium, it is a classic three-story British-style villa. The spacious front and rear courtyards are planted with rare flowers, plants, and trees. The interior features Filipino wood doors, windows, floors, and stairs, with exquisite furnishings and complete heating and sanitation facilities. To this day, the building has stood for eighty years and remains well-preserved. On September 15, 1950, Mr. and Mrs. Zhang Boling returned to Tianjin from Beijing with the care of Premier Zhou and rented this residence.

Meng Enyuan (1856–1933), a native of Tianjin, Zhili. He came from a military background. He joined the army during Yuan Shikai’s training of troops at Xiaozhan, rising through the ranks to become cavalry company commander, commander of the Zhili Patrol Battalion, and garrison commander of Nanyang.

In the 34th year of the Guangxu reign (1908), he was appointed as the Patrol Superintendent of Jilin.

After the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912, he served as the commander of the 23rd Army Division and the Military Governor of Jilin.

From June 1914 to July 1916, he served as the General of Zhen’an Right.
