The former residence of Zhou Xuexi, commonly known as "Zhou Mansion," is located at No. 3, 5, and 7 Aomen Road, Heping District. Buildings at No. 3 and No. 5 Aomen Road are three-story brick-and-wood structures with basements, combining Chinese and Western architectural styles, and extending to a second-floor rear building. The entire structure features machine-made brick walls with exposed mortar, with some parts covered in sandstone. The second floor facing Aomen Road has a 9-meter-long cantilevered balcony, while the east, west, and south sides are adorned with cement floral patterns such as flower horses beneath the windows. No. 7 Aomen Road was originally the Zhou family garden, featuring 10 single-story houses with outer corridors, as well as terraces, flowers, and trees. A uniquely shaped two-story small Western-style building with a basement and polygonal layout was also constructed. Its architectural design is distinctive, with protruding corners on all four sides. The front entrance on the south side has a trapezoidal platform that juts out in front of the building, supported by four cement columns. The overall layout is angular, symbolizing longevity. Currently, only Buildings No. 3 and No. 5 of Zhou Xuexi’s former residence remain. These buildings largely retain their original architectural style and have been listed as immovable cultural relics in Tianjin that have not yet been designated as protected cultural heritage sites.

Zhou Xuexi (1866–1947) was an industrialist and one of the founders of modern national industry. He was born on January 12, 1866, into a feudal bureaucratic family. He was one of the pioneers of early industrialization in North China, and the industrial conglomerate he established laid the foundation for modern industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region. As a result, Zhou Xuexi, along with the famous imperial examination top-scorer and capitalist Zhang Jian—who was dedicated to industrial salvation of the nation during the same period—is referred to as “Zhang of the South, Zhou of the North.”
