Tomb of Wu Fuzhi
The Tomb of Wu Fuzhi is a cultural heritage protection unit in Pujiang County.
The Tomb of Wu Fuzhi is located on a small island within the Tongjiqiao Reservoir in Tongji Administrative Village, Qianwu Township, Pujiang County. It dates back to the People's Republic of China and is classified as a modern-era significant historical site and representative architecture.
The Tomb of Wu Fuzhi is among the fourth batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units in Pujiang County.
Wu Fuzhi (1900–1977), originally named Shisu, later changed his name to Xi and styled himself Wuxizi, was commonly known by his courtesy name. He was from Qianwu Village, Qianwu Township, Pujiang County. From an early age, he was immersed in his family’s scholarly tradition and developed a strong passion for fine arts. As he grew older, he dedicated himself to meticulous gongbi painting. In 1922, he entered the Senior Teachers' Program at the Shanghai School of Fine Arts, where he was influenced by the painting style of Wu Changshuo and began focusing on freehand brushwork. After graduation, he taught at Suzhou First Normal School and Huai’an Middle School. In 1929, he moved to Shanghai to serve as a professor of Chinese painting at the Shanghai School of Fine Arts, while also teaching art at the University of Shanghai and its affiliated middle school. Tongji Village: Tongji Village is located to the east of Qianwu Township, 2 kilometers from Puyang Town. It has a total of 397 households and a population of 1,138 people, with 351 acres of paddy fields and an average per capita income of 4,380 yuan. It is connected to the Tongjiqiao Dam and consists of six natural villages.
