Shungeng Park

Shungeng Park is one of the main attractions of the Cao’e Scenic Area, located in the southwest of Shangyu City. The park features key sites such as the Shun Plowing Group Sculpture, the Temple of Emperor Shun, Shun Bridge, and Shun Well. It reflects the history of Emperor Shun being born in Shangyu and later taking refuge here to avoid his brother Danzhu, hence the place being named after him. The park highlights Emperor Shun’s glorious life, marked by filial piety, diligence in governance, and devotion to the people. The Shun Plowing Group Sculpture in the park was created by Chinese art master Han Meilin. Made primarily of granite, this majestic elephant herd sculpture is 68 meters long, 27 meters high, and weighs approximately 800 tons in total. Its grand scale and immense size make it the largest of its kind in Asia.
