No worries about where to have a barbecue now—23 riverside BBQ spots open in Taipei City!

No need to worry about where to have a barbecue in Taipei anymore—Taipei City has opened 23 designated areas in riverside parks for public use,with opening hours from 5 p.m. on September 25 to midnight on September 28. However, to accommodate the fireworks event at Dadaocheng, the designated area in front of the Yanping Temple in Dadaocheng will not be open for barbecues on September 25 and 26.

The Taipei City Government urges the public to show civic responsibility and self-discipline when barbecuing in riverside parks: clean up after yourselves, maintain environmental cleanliness, avoid starting fires directly on lawns or facilities such as tables and chairs, prepare an appropriate amount of ingredients at home and wash them in advance to reduce food waste, and make sure to sort and recycle trash; bring your own reusable utensils to minimize littering; after the barbecue, clean up the area voluntarily, take your trash home, or dispose of it in the specially placed bins after sorting.

The Water Resources Department stated that staff will conduct patrols. If members of the public engage in unauthorized barbecues or cookouts in non-designated areas or violate the relevant regulations of the park management ordinance and fail to improve after being advised, patrol officers may order them to stop using the area immediately and impose a fine of more than NT$2,400. To prevent littering, if you notice overflowing public trash bins or trash discarded along the roadside, please call the Citizen Hotline 1999, and the city government will dispatch personnel to handle the issue immediately.
