The 8th tropical depression of the year is centered at 15.50°N, 127.50°E, moving northwest at 26 km/h. With a central pressure of 1002 hPa, maximum sustained winds of 15 m/s near the center, and gusts up to 23 m/s, it may develop into this year’s fourth typhoon, named Mun (international name: Mun). However, it could also weaken into a moisture-rich tropical depression. Combined with the low-pressure trough affecting Taiwan starting Tuesday, it may bring heavy rainfall to central and southern Taiwan, as well as the eastern half (especially Taitung).

From Sunday, June 30, to Monday, July 1, most areas will be mostly cloudy to sunny with higher temperatures. There will be localized brief thunderstorms in the afternoon, and localized brief showers in southern regions, with a chance of localized heavy rain. On July 1, moisture near Taiwan will increase, with winds mainly from the south. Localized brief showers may also occur in the eastern and southeastern regions.

The 9th tropical depression is centered at 17.30°N, 113.00°E, moving west-northwest at 12 km/h. With a central pressure of 1000 hPa, maximum sustained winds of 12 m/s near the center, and gusts up to 20 m/s, this
tropical depressionis located near Hainan Island and currently poses little threat to Taiwan.

The Central Weather Bureau predicts that 3–5 typhoons will affect Taiwan this year, and their intensity should not be underestimated.

Southern and eastern parts of Taiwan may experience localized brief showers or thunderstorms throughout the day.

On July 2, the Central Weather Bureau issued an instant heavy rain alert (Thunderstorm No. 0061): an instant heavy rain warning was issued for “Keelung City, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City,” effective until 16:30.
