Shangyu Changtang Peach Blossom Spring
The Shangyu Changtang Peach Blossom Spring is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
The Shangyu Peach Blossom Spring is located in the central-western part of Shangyu City, in Taoyuan Village, Changtang Town, about 12 kilometers from downtown Shangyu. It is a 6-kilometer direct drive south from the Dongguan exit of the Shangsan Expressway and the Wulipai intersection of National Highway 104. The Peach Blossom Spring Ecotourism Area covers an area of 2.6 square kilometers, with a core zone of 0.8 square kilometers. Here, the forests are dense and rich in vegetation, with flowers fragrant in all seasons, bamboo shoots and fruits abundant in the orchards. In addition to the verdant mountains and over 5,000 acres of bamboo groves featuring peach, plum, persimmon, and bamboo trees, the area also boasts tranquil Peach Blossom Lake and Longtan Lake, covering nearly 400 acres of water surface, making it exceptionally rich in ecological and natural resources.
The overall planning of the Peach Blossom Spring Ecotourism Area was designed by the Shaoxing Kuaiji Mountain Tourist Resort in collaboration with the Tourism Planning and Design Institute of China Academy of Art’s Landscape Architecture Design Research Institute, based on the characteristics of its mountain and water natural resources. According to the changes in the industrial structure of the Peach Blossom Spring and the distribution of its resources, the scenic area is divided into a basic layout of “three zones, two routes, and one center”: namely, the Peach Blossom Lake Core Zone, the Countryside Scenery Zone, the Longtan Leisure Zone, as well as the Specialty Agriculture Tour Route, the Lakes and Mountains Tour Route, and the Tourism, Sightseeing, and Leisure Service Center. Specific attraction developments include ten major landscapes: Pine and Bamboo Dwellings, Bamboo Forest Homes, Qin and Han Woodcutters, Autumn Sails on the Yao River, and Dragon Island in Deep Spring. The area also features a water park, a newly built sandy beach bathing area, and amenities such as painted pleasure boats, dragon boats, and fiberglass pedal boats. The scenic area offers an outdoor barbecue zone that can accommodate 100 to 200 people at once, as well as a professional fishing area for 200 people.
The Peach Blossom Spring Ecotourism Area’s excellent natural ecological environment has made it the only site in our city where visitors can enjoy mountain flowers and fruits, view spectacular waterfalls and clear waters, listen to the sounds of pine and bamboo, and hear birdsong and cicadas. Guests can fish in the lake, cruise on boats, play in the sandy beach bathing area, have barbecues in the mountains, dig for bamboo shoots in the bamboo forests, and pick fruits from the trees. The area provides a full range of services including accommodation, entertainment, and vacation, offering visitors an authentic taste of rural charm. It was rated as a national AA-level tourist attraction in 2005. Last year, the scenic area received 150,000 visitors and generated over 300,000 yuan in ticket revenue.
