Shangyu City’s Wolong Mountain Scenic Area is located in Haoba Town. The mountain features undulating terrain that stretches for dozens of miles from east to west, twisting and turning like a giant dragon lying at rest. Its main peak, Jingang Peak, rises 320 meters above sea level. Nestled within a mountain hollow is Pujing Temple (originally named Pujing Lianshe), which was built during the Southern Song Dynasty. It has experienced cycles of decline and revival, and was extensively restored during the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong and Jiaqing eras. In the 1980s, the Three Saints Hall, Great Compassion Hall, and Ksitigarbha Hall were renovated, and new statues were created, including the Jade Buddha of Sakyamuni, Thousand-Armed Guanyin, Maitreya, and Samantabhadra. The temple now covers an area of 50 mu, with main structures including the Mahavira Hall and the Chanting Hall. Facilities such as a dedicated library and the Sangharama Hall have also been built. With a full range of architectural features and a tranquil environment, it has become an open religious site for visitors. From high vantage points within the temple, one can gaze out to see the Cao’e River winding eastward around the right side of the mountain like a silver ribbon, eventually flowing into the mouth of the Qiantang River—truly an ideal summer retreat and a sacred place for spiritual cultivation.
