Chenxi Scenic Town Area is situated at the foot of the renowned Siming Mountain in eastern Zhejiang, in the southern part of Shangyu District, 37 kilometers from the city center. It borders the landscapes of Yuyao to the east and leans against the scenery of Fenghua to the south. The area enjoys a reputation both within and beyond the city for its exceptional natural scenery, rich cultural attractions, and deep historical heritage.

Chenxi has long been praised as “the finest of the scenic wonders in southern Shangyu, with Chenxi as its essence.” It boasts natural and cultural attractions such as the Twin Sprouting Stone Bamboo Shoots, Elephant Trunk Cave, Tongze Ancient Temple, Four Cypress Ancient Nunnery, Taiping Mountain Fairy Gorge, and Black Dragon’s Three Pools. It has also been a favored destination for literati and artists throughout the ages. Figures from the Eastern Han Dynasty like Yu Ji, the Southern and Northern Dynasties’ Tao Hongjing, Du Jingcan, and Sun Chuo, the Tang Dynasty’s Meng Jiao, the Song Dynasty’s Lu You and Xia Gengjin, the Ming Dynasty’s Wang Shouren, Zhang Fengyi, and Xu Weixian, and the Qing Dynasty’s Xu Dianbang, Kong Zhigui, and Chu Wei?? all traveled to Chenxi to admire its landscapes and left behind poems and essays extolling its beauty.

The scenic area currently features attractions such as the Stone Bamboo Shoots Mountain, Xunxi Snowflake Pool, Tongze Ancient Temple, Zhejiang Eastern New Fourth Army Logistics Base Memorial Hall, Four Cypress Ancient Nunnery, Passionate Rafting, and Highland Cherry Base. Its unique combination of lush green mountains, clear waters, peculiar peaks and rocks, secluded springs and waterfalls, ancient temples, and famous trees attracts numerous visitors seeking natural exploration and cultural discovery, with annual tourist arrivals exceeding 300,000.
