The Mainland Bank was founded in Tianjin in 1919 by Tan Danya (also known as Li Sun), who served as Vice Minister of Finance in the Beiyang Government. The original building was constructed in 1921. The building borders Heilongjiang Road to the east, Harbin Road to the south, Dagu Road to the west, and Binjiang Road to the north. Designed by the Kiichi Architectural Firm, it covers a land area of 2021.39 square meters with a construction area of 4895.99 square meters. It is a three-story brick-concrete structure completed in the spring of 1921. Featuring square doors and windows, the building has a fortress-like architectural style. The main entrance is located at the corner of Harbin Road and Heilongjiang Road, where the inscription “Mainland Bank” above the doorway is still preserved. The building remains largely in its original form and is currently in good condition.
