Laolaojiu Chapter was a famous century-old shop in Tianjin. In the late Qing Dynasty, a Mr. Zhang, who was the ninth-born son in his family and a merchant from Shanghai, opened a silk fabric store in Tianjin, hence the name “Laolaojiu” (literally “Old Ninth Chapter”). The building faces Xing’an Road to the east, Rongji Street to the south, Heping Road to the west, and sits opposite the Lao Meihua shoe store at the entrance of Nanshi, with Tongqinghou Alley to the north. It has a construction area of 1,936.65 square meters, a brick-concrete structure, an inverted triangular floor plan, and originally had three floors before being expanded to four. The building is currently in good condition.
