Gao Shuxun, courtesy name Jianhou (1898–1972), was from Yanshan, Hebei. In his early years, he served in Feng Yuxiang’s forces before being incorporated into the Nationalist army. He once held positions such as commander of the New 8th Army and deputy commander of the 11th War Zone. He opposed the civil war and advocated for peace. In 1931, during the Nationalist Party’s second encirclement campaign against the Red Army, he angrily left the reactionary army and settled in Tianjin. After the July 7th Incident, he actively resisted the Japanese invasion and resolutely eliminated Shi Yousan, commander of the 39th Group Army who had collaborated with the enemy, thereby preventing a mutiny within the troops. After the victory in the War of Resistance, at the critical moment when Chiang Kai-shek launched the full-scale civil war, he led his troops to stage an uprising in Handan, exerting a significant influence among senior Nationalist generals. After the liberation, he served as vice governor of Hebei Province, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and a member of the National Defense Council.

The building is bordered by Yunnan Road to the east, Machang Road to the south, Kunming Road to the west, and Munan Road to the north. It has a brick-concrete structure, covering a land area of 1,275 square meters and a construction area of 614 square meters. This two-story villa features a red-brick exterior, a sloping red-tiled roof, and a small, uniquely styled umbrella-shaped tower projecting from the left side.
