Tarwan Golden Sand is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located in the southeastern part of Peach Blossom Island, between Steamed Bun Cape and Lower Stone Water Ridge, the bay is about 2 kilometers long and 1.2 kilometers wide, with water depth under 10 meters. It got its name because there used to be an ancient pagoda on the southern shore of the bay, with the bay lying beneath it. The inner beach is 1,370 meters long and over 400 meters wide, with golden, pure sand, hence called “Tarwan Golden Sand”, commonly known as “Thousand-Step Big Sand”, and is the second largest beach in the Zhoushan Archipelago. The beach slope is gentle and the seawater is clear. Baique Temple is located about 400 meters northwest of the golden sand, at the foot of Immortal Ridge. Legend has it that it originally had three main halls and more than 360 rooms, but after several fires and demolitions, only three rear halls remain, which are late Ming and early Qing dynasty structures.

From the pier to the golden sand, a minibus ride costs 4 yuan and takes about half an hour.
