Ride an "Iron Horse" to Little South Sea & Baihe  Enjoy Lotus Flowers Along the Way

The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau has planned the "Happy Cycling – Little South Sea & Baihe Bicycle Tour" event to be held on the morning of June 30 this year, allowing families to experience the joy of cycling together. Along the route, enjoy the beautiful pastoral scenery and fresh air. The event coincides with the "Lotus Season," offering a chance to admire the swaying lotus flowers along the way.

Little South Sea is composed of Shangqiepi Pond and Jiangjun Pond, located between Baihe and Houpi, and is part of the irrigation ponds in the Chianan Irrigation System. Putuo Temple is situated by the lake and is commonly referred to as the "Little South Sea" area because it enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva. Chen Jun-an, Director of the Tourism Bureau, stated that in addition to utilizing the resources of the pond water bodies themselves for tourism development, the city government has also constructed a double-loop bicycle route along the Chianan Canal agricultural roads and the old Taiwan Sugar Railway. One loop circles around the shores of Little South Sea, where the lake surface shimmers and is surrounded by green trees, creating a serene and beautiful atmosphere. The other loop follows the bicycle paths around Jiangjun Pond, Putuo Temple, Kaitianfu, and extends to the Orchid Biotech Park, offering a touch of religious and cultural charm. This interconnected double-loop bicycle system of Little South Sea is truly a must-visit leisure spot in the area.

The event starts from the Baihe Sports Park, passing through the Chianan Canal Scenic Bridge, Yong’an Elementary School, Jiangjun Pond, Kaitianfu, Lotus Township Bicycle Path, Lotus Township Hundred Flowers Corridor, Zhumen Elementary School, Zhumen Green Tunnel, and Baihe Junior High School. Along the way, cyclists can enjoy the fragrance of rice fields and rural paths, admire the endless lotus fields, and experience the leisurely life of farming families, before returning to the Baihe Sports Park. The event coincides with the 2013 Baihe Lotus Season, during which a series of activities are being held. In addition to cycling, participants can also admire the beauty of the lotus flowers and enjoy a slow, fun, and enriching journey.
