When visiting Tainan, if you want to experience an atmosphere different from the city, the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau recommends that summer is the perfect lotus-viewing season. You can slowly cycle through the Little South Sea Scenic Area on a sightseeing T-Bike. As you ride, a gentle breeze blows, and you can even catch the faint scent of lotus flowers from the fields.

The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau has launched a sightseeing T-Bike rental system in Houpi and Baihe districts. The reporter actually rode a sightseeing T-Bike through the Little South Sea Scenic Area. The cycling experience is similar to Taipei’s U-Bike—you can easily adjust the seat and there are also front baskets and bike locks for convenient stops to take photos or rest.

In summer, cycling through the Little South Sea Scenic Area, you can start near the suspension bridge by Putuo Zen Temple, cycle along the emerald green rice paddies to the lotus fields, and visit the South Seas Cherry Blossom Path next to General Pond. Although there are no cherry blossoms in summer, the lush green scenery along the way is still soothing.

A local guide pointed out that in the Little South Sea Scenic Area, although the lotus flowers have withered in the peak of summer, leaving only lotus leaves and bare stems, cycling against the wind at this time still brings the fragrance of lotus flowers. The reporter cycled through the fields and indeed caught bursts of floral scent wafting from the fields. Although the sight of lotus flowers in full bloom is no longer visible, it offers a unique charm.

The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau points out that cycling through Baihe and Houpi allows you to weave through cool, tree-lined green tunnels. In early summer, you can admire the golden rain of the Golden Rain Tree, verdant rice paddies, and lotus flowers rising unstained from the mud. Amidst the intertwined beauty of these sights, you can experience countryside living—a summer feast in Tainan’s garden that the whole family can enjoy together.

To offer more flexible rental options, the Houpi Baihe sightseeing T-Bike system has an hourly rate of NT$20, with a maximum daily charge of NT$100. Rental stations include the Wuli Le Tourism Service Center at Jingliao in Houpi, Putuo Zen Temple (near the suspension bridge) in the Little South Sea Scenic Area, the 7-11 Xinliansheng branch in Baihe, Baihe Sports Park, and the Wushulin Leisure Park Station, totaling five stations. All stations use a smart rental system that allows you to rent a bike at one location and return it at another. You can rent instantly using an EasyCard, iPass, credit card, plus mobile authentication.
