Remember the seafood expert-owned hot pot spot 【Xiao Pang Xian Guo】 we discovered last winter in Wufeng? It got rave reviews after we shared it. Even though the scorching summer isn’t over yet and the lingering heat of autumn is starting to show its teeth, the passion for hot pot still burns bright. A value-packed, fresh seafood hot pot experience is truly unforgettable. And now, in Dali, there’s another great find: 【He Wei Shuan Shuan Guo】, also offering generous portions and top-notch ingredients. It’s not too far from the city center—it’s located on Daming Road near RT-Mart, on a fairly bustling street. It seems to be a newly opened hot pot restaurant. Just seeing that they offer a 10% discount on purchases and a free shrimp with a check-in has us super interested.

【He Wei Shuan Shuan Guo】 is a hot pot restaurant opened by two young brothers, serving individual small hot pots. It’s located at the intersection of Daming Road and Xinren Road, right across from a FamilyMart. The Google Maps pin is slightly off, but once you’re there, everything inside feels brand new. The interior features a Chinese-style decor and a fairly spacious layout, including a long table perfect for family gatherings. The heating uses electromagnetic stoves rather than traditional alcohol or gas burners, which I personally find safer.

The dining area has two floors, but typically only the first floor is open on weekdays, with the second floor opening during busy holidays. Small hot pots are truly a year-round delight—whether it’s hot or cold outside, they satisfy those cravings. While most hot pot restaurants are pretty similar, differing mostly in price and portion sizes, He Wei still has its own unique charm.

The current promotion is quite fun: every hot pot is 10% off, and checking in gets you a choice between clams or shrimp, plus a ‘meat voucher’ for your next visit. It’s an incredibly worthwhile deal for the grand opening.

We confirmed with the staff that these promotions are ongoing (no set end date), so make sure to take advantage while you can.

As for other perks, they offer unlimited sparkling drinks and slushies—two flavors to choose from—with a wide variety of sauces. Their satay sauce is particularly good, and the chopped scallions and chili peppers are fresh and flavorful. Overall, it’s really solid.

The most affordable option is the 【He Wei Mass Hot Pot – 220 TWD】, which comes with a choice of basic beef, pork, or chicken (add 10 TWD for lamb). For a refined small hot pot these days, this is about the standard starting price. Aside from Korean kimchi and the signature spicy hot pot, the other broths are all original-flavor, keeping things simpler but offering a wide selection of ingredients.

The priciest option is the 【He Wei Luxury Sea-and-Land Hot Pot │ 550 TWD】, which includes a generous portion of seafood, meat, and vegetables—enough for two people. Considering the price and portions, I think it’s excellent quality and great value, which is why I really loved it after trying it. If you want to switch the broth to the ‘Special Spicy Hot Pot,’ it’s an extra 50 TWD—but if you love spicy food, you’ll probably adore this broth.

【Broth │ Special Spicy Hot Pot │ Upgrade for 50 TWD】
The menu features a signature spicy hot pot, but I’m not sure if it’s as spicy as this ‘Special’ version. This one is seriously bold—the surface is covered with aromatic spicy oil, giving off a rich, intense spiciness.

I took a sip straight away—initially, it didn’t feel too strong, but then a powerful wave of spice hit. The staff said it’s made daily with their own stir-fried chili base, and the heat level is genuinely sweat-inducing and refreshing.

Each hot pot comes with a generous ‘vegetable platter.’ While veggie platters are standard, not every restaurant gives you such a generous selection. The ‘taro potato balls’ are especially delicious.

【Seasonal Limited │ He Wei Luxury Sea-and-Land Hot Pot (includes seafood platter, meat, vegetable platter, rice) │ 550 TWD】
Seeing the sea-and-land combo on the menu got me excited—but when it actually arrived, the platter was jaw-dropping. A huge plate for 550 TWD, plus an extra portion of meat—do they even want to make money? XD It’s insanely good value.

There’s a three-spot crab (with head), scallops, fresh oysters, white shrimp, grass shrimp, angel red shrimp, clams, squid, and two scallops, plus thickly sliced snapper—an uncommonly generous cut that’s really satisfying to eat. There were four white shrimp, two grass shrimp, and two angel red shrimp. Aside from being fresh, the whole platter just radiates sincerity.

First, the three-spot crab—it’s not a particularly meaty species, but once you peel it open, both sides yield sweet, tender crab meat, and the claws do too. The meat is plentiful and sweet enough to serve as a tasty appetizer. Even when cooked in the spicy broth, the crab retains its sweetness. And their shrimp—whether it’s the sweet white shrimp, the crunchy grass shrimp, or the delicate angel red shrimp—are all fantastic.

The fresh oysters are also plump and juicy. I didn’t ask about the origin, but they don’t shrink down to nano-size after cooking, which makes them a joy to eat. The scallops and squid are also delicious. The entire platter feels like a seafood aquarium dramatically served up on a plate. But this amazing value set isn’t a year-round staple—I’m guessing it’s a special launch-period treat, so don’t miss out.

Don’t think it ends there—there’s also a meat platter (choose one: beef, chicken, pork, or lamb). We went with lamb, which has a slight gamey flavor but is still quite good. I recommend pairing lamb with the spicy hot pot—it really elevates the broth.

【Signature Braised Pork Rice │ Upgrade for 10 TWD │ Udon Noodles │ Upgrade for 10 TWD】
You can upgrade your plain rice or glass noodles to braised pork rice or udon for just 10 TWD. The braised pork rice comes with a generous helping of minced pork—it’s the kind of portion that really hits the spot.

I only managed to snap a photo of the udon before it was eaten XD, but the texture is really good, and it holds up well without getting mushy.

【Highly Recommended │ 5-Ounce Thick-Cut Angus Beef Short Rib Hot Pot (with rice and vegetable platter) │ 460 TWD】
The broth is a simple, clear stock—staff says it’s made purely from simmered vegetables, giving it a light, sweet flavor. Now let’s talk about the star: the Angus beef short ribs. The marbling is absolutely gorgeous.

It’s freshly sliced and plated just before serving. I’d highly recommend pairing this with the spicy hot pot too—you cook the beef slice by slice, and it reaches optimal tenderness in just a few seconds. The rich, fatty aroma combined with the tender beef, plus a hint of spice, is absolutely delicious. They also have a CHOICE-grade option at a slightly lower price, which I imagine is just as tasty.

【Seasonal Limited │ Limited Edition Fresh Oysters │ 80 TWD】
Three big fresh oysters go straight into the pot, keeping their briny flavor intact. I’m not sure if they’re sashimi-grade, but the oyster meat is plump and juicy. They do shrink a bit after cooking, but the deliciousness remains unchanged.

【Ready-to-eat │ Signature Spicy Tofu │ NT$40】
If you’re having spicy hotpot, don’t miss this dish. It’s ready to eat without cooking—the tofu has large pores, so the marinade seeps in during preparation. The spice level is moderate, but the aroma is fantastic. It tastes even better when cooked in the spicy hotpot, but it’s also great on its own. Highly recommended—give it a try!

【Ready-to-eat │ Marinated Pork Intestine │ NT$60】
Each piece is plump and rich, with a nice chewy texture. It’s also a great match for spicy hotpot, and the quality and flavor are both excellent.

Although it’s a self-created brand hotpot joint without extravagant decor, it puts more care into quality and portion sizes. Their 【He Wei Deluxe Seafood & Meat Hotpot】comes with a generous platter of seafood and meat—a combination most restaurants wouldn’t offer at this price, not to mention their commitment to freshness. Especially memorable is the signature spicy hotpot, which delivers bold, authentic spiciness. It’s quite intense at first bite, but becomes more enjoyable as you eat. There aren’t many small hotpot spots that serve such a satisfying spicy broth. The space is also spacious enough, perfect for family and group meals. Interested?
