Baisha Scenic Area

Baisha Scenic Area is situated in the northern part of Zhujiajian Island. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills and a mountain covered in rock formations, including solitary cliffs and uniquely stacked stones. Some are flat and square, as if carved by blades; others rise abruptly without pattern, appearing as if suspended and about to tumble down; some resemble frogs peeking and ready to jump, some look like golden roosters craning their necks to announce the morning; some are like sea lions playing with a ball, some resemble graceful maidens standing upright; others look like water buffaloes, squirrels, or monkeys... The forms are countless and breathtaking. The Baishan rock formations are entirely the result of granite’s spherical weathering and vertical fractures, forming peculiar rocks, strange stones, and unique caves and crevices. The rocks are grayish-white in color, from which the mountain gets its name. The mountain is lush with trees, often shrouded in drifting clouds where white stones contrast with green foliage, and emerald mist embraces the blue sky, thus earning the reputations of the “Yandang Mountain of the Sea” and the “Spirit Rocks of Baishan.”

Fairy Terrace

On the western side of Fairy Peak, a thin slab of stone extends horizontally from the cliff face, protruding over the void. This stone is 8 meters long, over 3 meters wide, and about 30–50 centimeters thick. Shaped like a diving board on a swimming pool, it is called “Diving Board Stone,” also known as the “Fairy Terrace.”

Thousand-Foot Cliff

Also called Thousand-Foot Cloud Cliff, it lies about a hundred meters northwest of Fairy Peak, southwest near Tianneng Terrace, and faces Lingjiu Peak to the south. The cliff is approximately 120 meters high, with steep, smooth, and rounded walls. Its towering peak stands majestically opposite Mount Putuo, presenting a spectacular sight. The cliff face is light brown, embedded with countless water marks that, from a distance, resemble waterfalls cascading down the mountainside.

At the top of Thousand-Foot Cliff lies a massive rock of nearly 100 square meters, smooth as if polished. Visitors who come here can look up at the blue sky, as if they could reach out and grasp the heavens or pluck the clouds, feeling as though they’ve entered the vast expanse of the sky. Looking around, Mount Putuo Luojia, Baisha, and Huludao all come into view.

Paradise Alley

In the valley between Fairy Terrace and Fairy Peak, there are two large rectangular rocks standing opposite each other, forming an alleyway about 10 meters long and over 1 meter wide. This is “Paradise Alley.” Legend has it that the Five Fairies once walked through this alley to reach Fairy Terrace, traveling back and forth between the “Heavens” and “Fairy Peak.” Paradise Alley is flanked by towering rocks and offers a serene atmosphere, with a cool breeze naturally flowing through. As visitors walk through the alley, they can hear echoes in the quiet valley, as if the laughter of the fairies playing here still lingers among the stone walls.
