Foding Mountain Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Foding Mountain Temple, located in Yunwu Mountain at an altitude of 299.1 meters, is also known as Huiji Chan Temple. With 145 halls and pavilions nestled among lush greenery, the Mahavira Hall, topped with colorful glazed tiles, presents the spectacular sight of "Buddha’s light shining upon all" under sunlight.

The Guanyin Hall, built in 1989, has its walls inlaid with 123 carved stone statues of Guanyin, which gather masterpieces from renowned painters of the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The Carpinus tree grows on the west side behind the back gate of Huiji Temple and is a rare and precious wood in the world, known as one of the "Three Treasures of Putuo," and is a second-class nationally protected plant. It was discovered in 1932 by the famous Chinese botanist Zhong Guanguang and later identified and named by the renowned botanist Zheng Wanjun.

No separate admission ticket required. It is included in the Putuo Mountain Scenic Area ticket. The incense ticket for Huiji Temple on the mountain is 5 RMB.

Two dedicated tourist bus lines connect the major scenic spots on Putuo Mountain

Line 1: Putuo Temple East (Baibu Sha) – Baibu Pavilion – Zhuzhulin (Nanhai Guanyin Open-Air Statue) – Rusan Midie (Nan Tianmen) – Ferry Terminal – Haifang Xincun (Xishan Xincun Zone 1) – Seafood Garden (Xishan Xincun Zone 2) – Baotuo Restaurant – Putuo Temple West (Xishan Scenic Area Entrance)

Line 2: Ferry Terminal – Rusan Midie (Nan Tianmen) – Zhuzhulin (Nanhai Guanyin Open-Air Statue) – Baibu Pavilion – Putuo Temple East (Baibu Sha) – Xianren Well (Chaoyang Cave) – Dacheng Nunnery – Fayu Temple (Qianbu Sha) – Feisha’ao – Xianghui Nunnery – Fan Yin Cave – Baoyue Nunnery – Ancient Buddha Cave – Cable Car Station

In addition to the two dedicated tourist bus lines, point-to-point tourist buses operate between the main scenic areas on Putuo Mountain, with staff dispatching vehicles via walkie-talkies based on passenger flow.

How to Get to Foding Mountain

Take Bus Line 2 on the island to the Passenger Cable Car Station, then take the cable car up to Foding Mountain
