The Grand Sea Guanyin Buddha is located on Mount Putuo. The statue stands on a three-tiered pedestal, with a total height of 33 meters — the Buddha itself is 18 meters, the lotus base 2 meters, and the pedestal 13 meters. The base covers an area of 5,500 square meters. At the top of the statue is the image of Amitabha, while the left hand holds a sacred object and the right hand forms the Fearless Mudra. The serene and benevolent expression embodies the Bodhisattva Guanyin’s “wisdom observing all beings and her profound vows as deep as the sea.”

Two dedicated tourist bus lines connect the major scenic spots on Mount Putuo.

Line 1: East of Puji Temple (Baibu Sha) – Baibuge – Zhuzhulin (Grand Sea Guanyin Open-Air Statue) – Enter Sanmodi (Nantianmen Gate) – Ferry Terminal – Haifang Xincun (Xishan Xincun Zone 1) – Seafood Park (Xishan Xincun Zone 2) – Baotuo Hotel – West of Puji Temple (Entrance to Xishan Scenic Area)

Line 2: Ferry Terminal – Enter Sanmodi (Nantianmen Gate) – Zhuzhulin (Grand Sea Guanyin Open-Air Statue) – Baibuge – East of Puji Temple (Baibu Sha) – Xianrenjing (Chaoyang Cave) – Dacheng’an – Fayu Temple (Qianbusha Beach) – Feishayao – Xianghui’an – Fan Yin Cave – Baoyue’an – Ancient Buddha Cave – Cable Car Station

In addition to the two dedicated tourist bus lines, point-to-point tourist buses operate between major scenic areas on Mount Putuo, with vehicles dispatched according to passenger flow via walkie-talkies by dedicated staff.

How to Get to the Grand Sea Guanyin Statue

Take Line 1 from the parking lot at the Mount Putuo ferry terminal and get off at “Zhuzhulin.”
