Zhuzhulin Zen Temple

Zhuzhulin Zen Temple is located south of Baibu Sha and west of Chaoyin Cave, facing the shimmering Lotus Sea and across from Mount Luojia. Nestled against the mountain and overlooking the sea, the temple is quaint and elegant. Its plaque inscribed with “Bǔtǎn Zhúzhūlín” was handwritten by Kang Youwei, a renowned Chinese thinker of modern times. The main hall of Zhuzhulin Nunnery enshrines a white marble statue of the Purple Bamboo Guanyin, which appears in various forms, inspiring diverse roots of virtue. In front of the nunnery lies a vast cape valley with the sea and sky merging into one.

Tourist buses operate two dedicated lines connecting most of the major scenic spots on Mount Putuo

Line 1: Putuo Temple East (Baibu Sha) – Baibu Pavilion – Zhuzhulin (Outdoor Grand Statue of Guanyin of the South Sea) – Enter Samadhi (Nantianmen) – Ferry Terminal – Haifang Xincun (West Hill Xincun Zone 1) – Seafood Park (West Hill Xincun Zone 2) – Baotuo Restaurant – Putuo Temple West (West Hill Scenic Area Entrance)

Line 2: Ferry Terminal – Enter Samadhi (Nantianmen) – Zhuzhulin (Outdoor Grand Statue of Guanyin of the South Sea) – Baibu Pavilion – Putuo Temple East (Baibu Sha) – Immortal’s Well (Chaoyang Cave) – Dacheng Nunnery – Fayu Temple (Qianbusha) – Feisha’ao – Xianghui Nunnery – Fan Yin Cave – Baoyue Nunnery – Ancient Buddha Cave – Cable Car Station

In addition to the two dedicated tourist bus lines, there are also point-to-point tourist buses operating between major scenic areas on Mount Putuo, with staff dispatching vehicles via walkie-talkies based on passenger flow.

How to Get to the Guanyin of the South Sea Statue: Take Line 1 from the ferry terminal parking lot and get off at “Zhuzhulin”
