Elephant Trunk Peak of Dongji Island

Elephant Trunk Peak is located at the easternmost tip of Dongfushan Island. Looking eastward from here, you’ll see nothing but boundless sea — it’s the farthest eastern point reachable on inhabited islands. When viewed from a passing boat, the peak resembles an elephant’s trunk plunging deep into the ocean, as if the elephant were playfully splashing in the water. The image is adorable and full of childlike charm.

Transportation

In Zhoushan, take bus routes 3, 6, 7, 9, 13, 15, 20, or 29 to Banshengdong Station, then walk a few minutes to Shenjiamen Banshengdong Wharf. From there, take a ferry to Miaozihu Island.

Shenjiamen – Miaozihu

Ferries depart Shenjiamen at 8:30 am daily, returning at 11:00 am.

Lower cabin: 100 RMB, middle cabin: 130 RMB, upper cabin: 150 RMB; the journey takes about 2 hours.

Miaozihu – Qingbang – Dongfushan

Boats depart Miaozihu at 7:30 am and 11:00 am daily, and depart Dongfushan at 8:30 am and 12:00 pm daily, with a stop at Qingbang.

One-way fares: Miaozihu to Qingbang 20 RMB, Miaozihu to Dongfushan 30 RMB.

Upon arriving at Dongfushan Island, you can walk directly to the peak.
