Muyu Island Fishermen’s Painting Wall

The fishermen’s painting wall is located on the western side of Miaozihu Island, along the wall near the dock, where dozens of outstanding fishermen’s paintings are neatly displayed, showcasing the distinctive features of Dongji fishermen’s art.

The paintings are all created by the women on the island, mainly in gouache, with a few in oil and plastic paper printmaking. The exhibition space is divided into three areas: a new artists’ works gallery, a veterans’ retrospective gallery, and a market sales gallery. The walls are covered with fishermen’s paintings, and visitors can purchase any piece they like on the spot. The gallery also doubles as a studio, filled with various paints and brushes. Strolling through the space and admiring the artworks—pieces like "Busy Rope Making" and "Sea Babies"—vividly portray the life and spirit of fishing families. We can almost feel the resilient character and broad vision deeply rooted in the fishermen, as well as their ability to narrate and create scenes with their brushes. They paint a vibrant sea and the life within it, as well as the hardworking, unyielding, and wave-defying spirit and strength of the islanders.

Transportation

In Zhoushan, take bus routes 3, 6, 7, 9, 13, 15, 20, or 29 to Banshengdong Station, then walk a few minutes to reach Shenjiamen Banshengdong Wharf. From there, take a ferry to Miaozihu Island.

Shenjiamen – Miaozihu

Ferries depart daily from Shenjiamen at 8:30 AM, with the return trip at 11:00 AM.

Lower cabin: 100 RMB, middle cabin: 130 RMB, upper cabin: 150 RMB. The voyage takes approximately two hours.

Upon arriving at Miaozihu, you can walk to the painting wall.
