Zhujiajian Lisha Ecological Park

Lisha Ecological Park is a natural oxygen bar. The most eye-catching feature here is the vast expanse of sand dune forests within the park. The branches all grow in one direction, consistently facing away from the sea, resembling the sails of a ship — a mark left by years of sea breezes. Behind the sand dune forests are dense ancient camphor groves, their steadfast companions. When the sea wind blows, the greenery rustles noisily as if it might just give off green smoke; when sea mist rolls in, the entire forest looks as if the painter has squeezed green and white pigments together on a palette — a crisp, mild, and wonderfully textured scene.

The park also offers opportunities for historical exploration and quiet reflection: the stone stele of Master Xujian’s tomb was built in the fourth year of the Qianlong reign; stone-carved Buddha statues and the ceramic jar in which a monk achieved nirvana are relics from the Baosheng Temple — the largest temple in Putuo during the Later Jin period. As for the arhat pine tree in front of Baosheng Temple, despite having endured several disasters, it has managed to survive and now stands over 800 years old.

There is a giant outdoor chessboard here, measuring 15.8 meters long, 14.3 meters wide, with chess pieces that have a diameter of 1.2 meters. You have to physically push the pieces to play, making it a battle of both wits and physical strength. Of course, tiring yourself out will inevitably affect your game performance — but don’t worry, your opponent will be struggling just as much.
