Zhujiajian Shaojiban Village

Shaojiban Fishing Village is the earliest settlement of coastal dwellers on Zhujiajian Island. Ancient settlers sailed here, cast their nets, and fished the seas, gradually forming Zhujiajian’s first natural fishing village. Shaojiban is now the most well-preserved eco-fishing village along the eastern Zhejiang coast. The village faces the East China Sea, blooming in spring. From afar, its pristine scenery reveals an old-world charm. Stroll through the village, and you’ll see streams running through, fishermen living by the water, quiet thatched cottages, and fishing boats nestled by the sea. A rich maritime atmosphere fills the air. Walking around the village, enjoying a home-cooked meal, and watching the sunset over the mountains can melt away all worries.

Shaojiban is a natural harbor nestled at the foot of the western side of Daqing Mountain. To the west lies the Wushamen Channel, which connects to the Yang’an Fishing Grounds. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the flat inland area stretches about 330 meters wide and 1,500 meters deep. Its shape resembles a fishing basket used for washing rice—hence the name. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset.

Today, while the exteriors of the original houses retain their traditional blue-tiled, white-walled look, the interiors have been upgraded. This allows visitors to experience the village’s rustic simplicity while still enjoying modern amenities.
