Fahua Ling Cave

Located beneath the Dongtian Gate of Jibao Ridge. Exit Hongfa House, turn left, and climb the path up the steps. Pass by the old thatched hut (now a residence), and you’ll arrive at Fahua Ling Cave, one of the Twelve Scenic Spots of Putuo. Here, massive boulders are naturally stacked to form dozens of caves: some have hollows and crevices just wide enough to crawl through; others are as spacious as rooms, housing stone statues; still others are wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, with thin streams of water dripping through cracks in the rocks, collecting into pools below. Although Putuo is home to many caves, layered and uniquely formed, this cave is the most remarkable. Outside the cave, there are inscriptions such as “Qing Da Fudi” (The Great Blessed Land), “Putuo Rock,” and “Southeastern Pillar.”
