As the highest temple among the thousands of islands in Zhoushan, it is honored as the “No. 1 Temple of the Thousand Islands.” Originally built in the 4th year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1865), it was first situated inside the “Anqi Alchemy Cave,” the site where the pre-Qin hermit Anqi Sheng practiced Taoism and alchemy. In 1986, it was relocated from the cave and reconstructed into the present-day Holy Rock Temple, boasting a history of over 400 years. Meticulously built along the mountain terrain, it consists of three levels: Anqi Bridge, the Liberation Pond, and the temple itself, enshrining the Buddha Sakyamuni.
