Putuo District Archives

The Putuo District Archives serves as a patriotic education base.

In 2007, the new building of the Putuo District Archives was completed, and in the same year, construction began on a patriotic education base. The first floor of the comprehensive archives building was repurposed as an exhibition hall for the patriotic education base, covering a total area of 880 square meters. The exhibition hall is divided into two parts: a permanent exhibition area and a mobile exhibition area.

The permanent exhibition area is located on the mezzanine of the archives building, with an area of 180 square meters. The exhibits are divided into four types: long scroll panels, physical objects, sand tables, and ship models. The exhibition hall was opened to the public on November 16, 2009, to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the opening of Shenjiamen Fishing Port, under the theme “Retrospective: Archival Exhibition of the Fishing Port.” Due to our thorough exploration of the archival resources within the collection, broadening the scope of material collection, using various forms of media, and giving full consideration to the arrangement of exhibition content, the exhibition was a great success. Since its opening, visitor numbers have continued to rise, and it has received positive feedback from visitors.

The mobile exhibition area is located on the first floor of the district archives building, covering an area of 700 square meters. It can be arranged differently according to publicity needs. The mobile exhibition area primarily supports the key initiatives of the district Party committee and government, while also coordinating with various exhibitions organized by different sectors across the district to promote local history and culture and showcase the historical features of the port city. To fully leverage the functionality of the mobile exhibition space, our archives have organized exhibitions on diverse themes in various formats. Successful exhibitions include the “Looking Back at Putuo” photography exhibition, the “Thirty Years of Reform and Opening-Up: Outstanding Achievements” exhibition, the “Glorious 60 Years” large-scale photo exhibition, and the “Beautiful Intangible Heritage Fair” traditional cultural arts exhibition of Putuo District. Since 2008, the Putuo District Archives have made full use of the exhibition space, hosting over 80 large-scale exhibitions and receiving more than 120,000 visitors.
